An uncontrolled search path vulnerability exists in Trellix Agent (TA) for Windows in versions prior to 5.7.8. This allows an attacker with admin access, which is required to place the DLL in the restricted Windows System folder, to elevate their privileges to System by placing a malicious DLL there.
CVE-2022-23202 1 Adobe 1 Creative Cloud Desktop Application 2025-04-23 7 High
Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop version 2.7.0.13 (and earlier) is affected by an Uncontrolled Search Path Element vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must download a malicious DLL file. The attacker has to deliver the DLL on the same folder as the installer which makes it as a high complexity attack vector.
CVE-2022-20001 3 Debian, Fedoraproject, Fishshell 3 Debian Linux, Fedora, Fish 2025-04-23 7.8 High
fish is a command line shell. fish version 3.1.0 through version 3.3.1 is vulnerable to arbitrary code execution. git repositories can contain per-repository configuration that change the behavior of git, including running arbitrary commands. When using the default configuration of fish, changing to a directory automatically runs `git` commands in order to display information about the current repository in the prompt. If an attacker can convince a user to change their current directory into one controlled by the attacker, such as on a shared file system or extracted archive, fish will run arbitrary commands under the attacker's control. This problem has been fixed in fish 3.4.0. Note that running git in these directories, including using the git tab completion, remains a potential trigger for this issue. As a workaround, remove the `fish_git_prompt` function from the prompt.
CVE-2022-34235 3 Adobe, Apple, Microsoft 3 Premiere Elements, Macos, Windows 2025-04-23 7.8 High
Adobe Premiere Elements version 2020v20 (and earlier) is affected by an Uncontrolled Search Path Element which could lead to Privilege Escalation. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to obtain admin using an existing low-privileged user. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction.
CVE-2022-39286 3 Debian, Fedoraproject, Jupyter 3 Debian Linux, Fedora, Jupyter Core 2025-04-23 8.8 High
Jupyter Core is a package for the core common functionality of Jupyter projects. Jupyter Core prior to version 4.11.2 contains an arbitrary code execution vulnerability in `jupyter_core` that stems from `jupyter_core` executing untrusted files in CWD. This vulnerability allows one user to run code as another. Version 4.11.2 contains a patch for this issue. There are no known workarounds.
CVE-2025-43950 2025-04-23 7.8 High
DPMAdirektPro 4.1.5 is vulnerable to DLL Hijacking. It happens by placing a malicious DLL in a directory (in the absence of a legitimate DLL), which is then loaded by the application instead of the legitimate DLL. This causes the malicious DLL to load with the same privileges as the application, thus causing a privilege escalation.
CVE-2022-43722 1 Siemens 1 Sicam Pas\/pqs 2025-04-22 7.8 High
A vulnerability has been identified in SICAM PAS/PQS (All versions < V7.0). Affected software does not properly secure a folder containing library files. This could allow an attacker to place a custom malicious DLL in this folder which is then run with SYSTEM rights when a service is started that requires this DLL. At the time of assigning the CVE, the affected firmware version of the component has already been superseded by succeeding mainline versions.
CVE-2017-5565 1 Trendmicro 4 Antivirus\+, Internet Security, Maximum Security and 1 more 2025-04-20 N/A
Code injection vulnerability in Trend Micro Maximum Security 11.0 (and earlier), Internet Security 11.0 (and earlier), and Antivirus+ Security 11.0 (and earlier) allows a local attacker to bypass a self-protection mechanism, inject arbitrary code, and take full control of any Trend Micro process via a "DoubleAgent" attack. One perspective on this issue is that (1) these products do not use the Protected Processes feature, and therefore an attacker can enter an arbitrary Application Verifier Provider DLL under Image File Execution Options in the registry; (2) the self-protection mechanism is intended to block all local processes (regardless of privileges) from modifying Image File Execution Options for these products; and (3) this mechanism can be bypassed by an attacker who temporarily renames Image File Execution Options during the attack.
CVE-2017-14029 1 Trihedral 1 Vtscada 2025-04-20 N/A
An Uncontrolled Search Path Element issue was discovered in Trihedral VTScada 11.3.03 and prior. The program will execute specially crafted malicious dll files placed on the target machine.
CVE-2017-13130 1 Bmc 1 Patrol 2025-04-20 N/A
mcmnm in BMC Patrol allows local users to gain privileges via a crafted libmcmclnx.so file in the current working directory, because it is setuid root and the RPATH variable begins with the .: substring.
CVE-2017-12717 1 Advantech 1 Webaccess 2025-04-20 N/A
An Uncontrolled Search Path Element issue was discovered in Advantech WebAccess versions prior to V8.2_20170817. A maliciously crafted dll file placed earlier in the search path may allow an attacker to execute code within the context of the application.

360 Total Security 9.0.0.1202 before 2017-07-07 allows Privilege Escalation via a Trojan horse Shcore.dll file in any directory in the PATH, as demonstrated by the C:\Python27 directory.
CVE-2017-12314 1 Cisco 1 Findit Network Discovery Utility 2025-04-20 N/A
A vulnerability in the Cisco FindIT Network Discovery Utility could allow an authenticated, local attacker to perform a DLL preloading attack, potentially causing a partial impact to the device availability, confidentiality, and integrity, aka Insecure Library Loading. The vulnerability is due to the application loading a malicious copy of a specific, nondefined DLL file instead of the DLL file it was expecting. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by placing an affected DLL within the search path of the host system. An exploit could allow the attacker to load a malicious DLL file into the system, thus partially compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability on the device. Cisco Bug IDs: CSCvf37955.
CVE-2017-14017 1 Progea 1 Movicon 2025-04-20 N/A
An Uncontrolled Search Path Element issue was discovered in Progea Movicon Version 11.5.1181 and prior. An uncontrolled search path element vulnerability has been identified, which may allow a remote attacker without privileges to execute arbitrary code in the form of a malicious DLL file.
CVE-2017-12266 1 Cisco 1 Meeting App 2025-04-20 N/A
A vulnerability in the routine that loads DLL files in Cisco Meeting App for Windows could allow an authenticated, local attacker to run an executable file with privileges equivalent to those of Cisco Meeting App. The vulnerability is due to incomplete input validation of the path name for DLL files before they are loaded. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by installing a crafted DLL file in a specific system directory. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute commands on the underlying Microsoft Windows host with privileges equivalent to those of Cisco Meeting App. The attacker would need valid user credentials to exploit this vulnerability. Cisco Bug IDs: CSCvd77907.
CVE-2017-11158 2 Microsoft, Synology 2 Windows, Cloud Station Drive 2025-04-20 N/A
Multiple untrusted search path vulnerabilities in the installer in Synology Cloud Station Drive before 4.2.5-4396 on Windows allow local attackers to execute arbitrary code and conduct DLL hijacking attacks via a Trojan horse (1) shfolder.dll, (2) ntmarta.dll, (3) secur32.dll or (4) dwmapi.dll file in the current working directory.
CVE-2017-6329 1 Symantec 1 Vip Access For Desktop 2025-04-20 N/A
Symantec VIP Access for Desktop prior to 2.2.4 can be susceptible to a DLL Pre-Loading vulnerability. These types of issues occur when an application looks to call a DLL for execution and an attacker provides a malicious DLL to use instead. Depending on how the application is configured, the application will generally follow a specific search path to locate the DLL. The exploitation of the vulnerability manifests as a simple file write (or potentially an over-write) which results in a foreign executable running under the context of the application.
CVE-2017-5566 1 Avg 3 Anti-virus, Internet Security, Ultimate 2025-04-20 N/A
Code injection vulnerability in AVG Ultimate 17.1 (and earlier), AVG Internet Security 17.1 (and earlier), and AVG AntiVirus FREE 17.1 (and earlier) allows a local attacker to bypass a self-protection mechanism, inject arbitrary code, and take full control of any AVG process via a "DoubleAgent" attack.
